Overview

  • Sales periods define named time windows that control when an event’s tickets become available for purchase.
  • An event can have a general sale period and one or more presale periods, each with its own start and end date.
  • Sales periods also drive dynamic content on the event page — content blocks can be shown or hidden based on the current sale phase.
  • All sales period dates respect the event’s timezone.
Sales periods require the event sale periods feature to be enabled for your company. Without this feature, event sales are controlled by manually toggling the event on or off sale and by setting on-sale dates on individual sale items, timeslots, and sale item groups.

Period Types

TypeDescription
General SaleThe main public sale window. One per event. Requires a start date; the end date is optional, allowing the sale to remain open indefinitely.
PresaleA pre-sale window that typically precedes the general sale. Multiple presale periods can be defined. Both start and end dates are required.
Presale periods are commonly paired with access codes or customer groups to restrict early purchasing to a specific audience. For example, you might distribute an access code to newsletter subscribers, or restrict presale tickets to a customer group containing previous attendees.

Configuration

Sales periods are managed from the event dashboard via the Event Dates panel. The panel displays a table with all periods alongside the event’s own start and end dates.
FieldDescription
NameA label for the period (e.g. “Members Presale”, “General Sale”). Displayed to customers on the event page.
Start dateWhen the period begins and tickets become available.
End dateWhen the period ends. Optional for general sale periods. Required for presale periods.
A visual timeline below the table shows all periods and their duration relative to the event dates, with a marker indicating the current time.

Adding a Presale Period

Click Add sale period to create a new presale period. Each presale period requires a name and both a start and end date.

Deleting a Period

Sales periods can be deleted unless they are linked to a content block restriction. Remove the content block restriction first before deleting the period. See content block visibility below.

Content Block Visibility

Sales periods integrate with event page customisations to control when content blocks appear on the event page. Each content block can be configured with a visibility rule tied to the current sale phase:
Visibility RuleBehaviour
Always showThe block is visible regardless of the sale phase.
Restrict to selected sale periodsThe block is only visible while one or more selected sale periods are active.
Show before sale periodsThe block is visible before any sale period has started.
Show after general saleThe block is visible after all sale periods have ended.
This allows the event page to display different content at each stage — for example, a countdown message before sales open, presale-specific information during a presale window, or a “sales have ended” message after the general sale closes.

Customer Experience

Event Page Status

The event page reflects the current sale phase:
PhaseBehaviour
Before saleNo sale periods have started. The event page displays an “On sale soon” status.
PresaleA presale period is active. The event page displays a “Pre-sale on” status.
On saleThe general sale is active. The event page displays an “On sale now” status.
Off saleNo sale periods are currently active.

Sale Period Countdown

When a customer is viewing an event page and a sale period is about to begin, a modal appears shortly before the sale starts. The modal displays the period name and automatically refreshes the page when the sale goes live.

Sale Periods Display Block

A sale periods template block can be added to the event page to show customers a list of all upcoming and active sale periods with their dates. Active periods are badged as “on sale now”.
